Our beautiful daughter Leila was born with a brain abnormality called Polymicrogyria. This is a very rare abnormality that causes Leila to have severe cognitive delays, severe motor delays, low tone in her torso and neck area making her very floppy like a rag doll, and her limbs have high tone making it difficult for her to control her movements. She also has seizures on top of everything. Leila is now 17 months and at this point her neurologist thinks she is around a 4-6 month old development wise. She can roll over, laugh and smile. She brings joy to everyone that is fortunate enough to meet her. The doctors are not sure how much further Leila will progress, but they feel that giving her as much possible therapy will definitely improve her chances at sitting and maybe one day walking. We live in Canada and there isn’t any type of intense physical therapy programs available, so we are hoping to raise enough money to bring her out for the month to give her a fighting chance. We appreciate any donations because to us every penny brings us a little bit closer.
Sincerely,
Renee Gray
