Hello I would like to share my sons story with everyone. Camdyn is now almost 1 years old. He was 4 months old in Feb when on the 11th I picked him up from the babysitters house and he was not acting like himself. He had vommited a couple times which was not like him he had never thrown up....ever! So I was a bit concerned. He also was  not holding his eyes open like normal. I rushed him to the ER here in town and after WAITING 3 hours with a sick child they called us back. I didn\'t push being seen sooner because as the time passed as we were waiting he seemed to get better. They sent us home on a pedialyte diet and told us that if we noticed him go "limp".... whatever that ment at the time.... we were to rush him back up there. we went home and Camdyn had a normal night and morning with my husband. My husband took him back to the sitter on Feb 12th and when I picked him up 3 hours later he was completley "limp" he wouldn\'t hold his head or open his eyes. I called my husband and again he met us up at the ER. THIS time I was NOT waiting and demanded to have him seem IMMEDIATELY. They did and they did some blood work and called the UW childrens hospital in Madison WI. They had a CT scan done and found bleeding on the brain. Camdyn was medflighted to Madison. My husband and I were investigated before we could even begin the LONG drive. It was only a 45 min drive but it felt like FOREVER till we got to our son. Camdyn had started to have seizures... They got worse and worse until they put him in a drug induced coma to allow his brain to relax and reset itself. Camdyn was very stubborn and it took about 10 hours to get him into the sedative state they needed. My husband and I never left his side. We were pulled out of the room multiple times to be interviewed by CPS and investigators. We have 3 boys and the STATE made us turn ALL 3 over. My older 2 went to my parents and my baby was the states..... The saddest day of my life! I can\'t believe how they can just RIP your family apart when you are innocent and everyone around you knows and tells them that you nor your husband touched your child....
While Camdyn was in his coma they did an MRI with the MRI they discovered internal brain damage. That is when they approached us with the accusations of Shaken Baby Syndrome.... There was NO WAY anyone shook my baby. Camdyn was taken out of the coma 24 hours after he was in the wanted sedative state. He woke to still having seizures. He had a breathing tube, feeding tube, and at one time about 16 different meds, IV fluids, and other nutrients going into his body at once. They tried to give him a picc line and was unsuccessful after 2 hours of trying..... :( Camdyn was given about 6 blood transfusions while he was up there. We had a slow but steady recovery while in the hospital.
Camdyn was released March 9, 2009. What was suppose to be a VERY happy day was not. He was released to a foster home. We were told we couldn\'t take him home because the "state" couldn\'t figure out what happened or "who" did it. NO ONE HURT MY BABY!!!
After we were home and Camdyn was with his foster family I decided to research some things. I came across some information that said that vaccines can cause very similar symptoms to shaken baby syndrome. I was reinsured by the UW Dr that there was NO way this could happen. I layed that theory to rest until 3-4 weeks ago when my grandmother told me about Dr. Moulden. I have always known there was an answer to what happened to my happy lil man and it wasn\'t SHAKEN BABY SYNDROME.
Camdyn is home now and my family is once again COMPLETE. Life has changed. I had to quite my job for the safety of my children, incase something did happen outside the home. Because of that our income was lowered. I am currently getting some income from unemployment but we have prescription expenses and expenses from when Camdyn was at the UW that were accumulated. We also are buying Pedialyte for him to drink because that is the only thing he will drink he don\'t like juice or milk.
Camdyn is currently getting OT and PT and has CVI (cortial vision impairment). He had a vision instructor here wich seems to be very positive with the fact that is vision will come back.
Camdyn has had 2 surgeries since his discharged in March. The first was in June and he had 4 ounces of blood/fluid (mostly blood) drained off his brain through a burr hole. The second was in July because of reaccumulation on the brain. He had a Shunt placed through the burr hole on his brain. Since then he has seemed to have a better recovery.
Camdyn is our pride and joy and whatever happened to him there is an answer to what happened and I am going to continue to try to find it.
