Lani was born on Nov. 7, 2003, weighing 5 pounds and 11 ounces.  She was full term and we are very thankful for that!  But Lani stopped breathing while in utero.  Once an emergency c-section was done she was still not breathing.  This went on for 9 minutes plus; not breathing, no muscle tone, purple and blue, and lifeless.  The doctors had given her all the medication that the law would allow them when she  started breathing.  She was put on a respirator and taken to NICU.  Lani spent close to 2 months there!  We were told that she might not make it through the night!  For almost 2 weeks she had a constant seizure because of the lack of oxygen during delivery.

Lani did not have the ability to suck so she took all her feedings through a tube in her nose.  She didn't start taking a bottle until 3 days before we took her home from the hospital.  While getting ready to take her home, Lani's future looked very bleak!  We were told that she could possibly be completely confined to a wheelchair for the rest of her life, and that the first 2 months home were very important and that she could still pass away!

At about 1 1/2 we were told that Lani had cerebral palsy and epilepsy. We knew that this was something that we could overcome but it would take lots of time! Lani attends PT,OT and speech all 2x's a week and has since she was about 3months old. She has had many test run on her from EEGs to spinal taps. She is a trooper and a inspiration to everyone around her.

Lani is now 4 years old and take special needs dance classes and is a special needs cheerleader. She loves life and takes everything that is thrown her way and makes the best of it. And now she is ready to walk, run, and jump with everyone else and achieve the independence that she deserves! And our family believe that this therapy can help her get there. So please make a donation and help our little angel's dreams of someday walking come true.

Thank you so much for taking time out and donating!
