As writen by Cara's mother:

Cara is a 16 year old girl who had a stroke on March 16, 2006. Cara was a dancer and danced competitively for three years. She had symptoms in her right arm for four months and a five inch blood clot was found in her arm which was caused by an extra clavicle rib pressing on a major artery. On March 16 Cara was walking home from school with a friend and experienced the worst headache of her life with blurred vision. She made it home and lied down on the couch with her friend. When she went to get up an hour later she fell to the floor and her left side was paralyzed. She was taken to the Emergency Room and remained in intensive care for two weeks. A piece of the blood clot from her arm went to her brain. One week after her stroke she underwent major surgery to remove the five inch blood clot in her arm, repair the artery and remove the extra piece of rib. Cara spent six weeks in inpatient rehabilitation and now lives at home. She attends Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy sessions three times per week but continues to have left sided hemiparesis. Her life as a teenager has dramatically changed. We feel with this intensive therapy program along with the hyperbaric oxygen therapy Cara will make significant progress. Please donate so Cara can attend this program.
